E. B. Squire, the present vicar of Swansea. On the break ing out of the war he was compelled, by the delicate state of Mrs. Squire's health, to embark for Europe. When the intelligence arrived in England of the treaty Of Nanking, and the opening of China to Mis sionary efforts, many urgent solicitations were ad dressed to the Committee to resume their attempt of establishing a Mission in China.
