Despite the many biographies of John F. Kennedy, none has attempted to reconcile the idealism and lofty vision of the nation's youngest president to the morally suspect conduct of the private man. Questioning how his less than exemplary life related to the actions and decisions of his public career, Reeves probes the bewildering vagaries of Kennedy's character, penetrating his carefully wrought public image to reveal the true man. Two 8-page photo inserts.

A very pleasurable reading, well researched, a work that brings Kennedy to his real light of man and politician and this is a useful deed because the judgement of his political action should NOT be influenced by the sad way in which his life ended. To the author's credit, Reeves begins describing how the truth in every field was distorted to promote Kennedy in the political arena, but in the end he can recognize too the cases in which the President acted effectively. Advisable to read.
