Fair. No Dust Jacket. Two volumes (complete). Volume I is Poor in rubbed full brown leather with red leather spine label, due to the separation of the front cover. The rear cover is firmly attached and the text block binding is sound. Volume II is Good in rubbed full brown leather with red leather spine label. There is damping to the first two dozen pages, largely at the bottom corner margin, and a long 1896 ink annotation at the front endpaper. The paper has tanned (heaviest at outer edges and endpapers), but the text is fully legible. The volumes were published in 1860 and 1862, with each being a first edition.
