Very Good Minus. No Jacket. The Irish historian Patrick Weston Joyce (1827-1914) is known for his research into the origin of irish place names; he also was an educator, helping to organize the National School system. This is a Good only copy of the First American Edition of one of his later, and very popular, works. Green cloth binding with gilt lettering on the spine and a blindstamped representation of Glendaloch. Spine has darkened, although the gilt lettering is still very bright. Rubbed at the margins. The text is clean, with the exception of penciled notes in the endpapers. Clean text otherwise, with many great illustrations; 508 pages. With hinges cracked, the volume is weak and could use some repair (attempted in the front with some cello tape). A Reading Copy only. Size: 12mo-over 6¾"-7¾" tall.
