In the first world war mustard gas and other gases of mass destruction were used. In world war two an atom bomb was used twice, a holocaust killed 12 million people and Japanese internment camps held people against their will. In the Korean war brain washing was used against POWs. In the Vietnam war agent orange was used to kill plants but later caused cancers. In Bosnia, ethnic cleansing was used. These examples don't make prisoner abuse acceptable but they suggest that every war has bad things happening. Just because we have to protect our citizens the social contract sometimes must be invoked. I don't believe that the present administration meant for the abuse to happen. And we still have the write to speak out like Kennedy did.
