In gathering the material published on the following pages, we have drawn liberally upon the columns of the American Machinist, where from time to time have appeared articles by the best known authorities upon the subject of grinding. We have also received valuable assistance from various machine and wheel makers who have very courteously supplied us with data pertaining to different phases of the subject and we hereby acknowledge our indebtedness to all who have aided us in this direction.
