For courses in Mathematical Statistics Introducing the principles of statistics and data modeling Introduction to Mathematical Statistics and Its Applications, 6th Edition is a high-level calculus student's first exposure to mathematical statistics. This book provides students who have already taken three or more semesters of calculus with the background to apply statistical principles. Meaty enough to guide a two-semester course, the book touches on both statistics and experimental design, which teaches students various ways to analyze data. It gives computational-minded students a necessary and realistic exposure to identifying data models.

Larsen and Marx's "Introduction to Mathematical Statistics and Its Applications" tries to walk the line between mathematical rigor and practical application with a simple requirement of multivariate calculus. The end result is a text appropriate for a two-course undergraduate sequence, or a single-course introduction for graduate students less interested in the more rigorous statistical theory.
This approach, and the sparse prerequisites, result in a text that introduces a fair amount of content, but lacks depth in content areas. Students focused on applications will find the treatment of regression for scalar inputs limiting. Theoretically inclined students will note that proofs are not always provided, and important definitions are often hidden in paragraphs of text. If the end desire of the student is to conduct single-variable or two-sample hypothesis tests this text will get you there, but anyone interested statistical prediction, multivariate statistics, or a rigorous understanding of the fundamentals of statistics will need other books to supplement.
Overall this book is an aptly named 'Introduction' to Mathematical Statistics that serves as a strong beginning, especially noting it does not require Linear Algebra, Analysis, or Measure Theory, but should be supplemented with other texts for both the academic and the practitioner.

Excellent!
That book contains everything somebody should know about statistics from a theoritical an practical point of view. The most difficult concepts are explained extremely well and it makes everything easier to understand.
