We also argue that understanding research methods can help professionals in every stage of the practice-from engaging clients or communities, to assessing problems and resources, to selecting interventions and monitoring progress, to evaluating outcomes and integrating findings in enhancing our programs, services, and policies. Research also provides a framework for understanding how services work, which enables human services professionals to explain them to those outside the profession"--
