Book shows was last published in 1983. It's exciting to see how things were made/done back then. Has interesting things such as: Building a house, Where and How to find water on land, Developing a Water Supply, Wind Power, Solar Power, Gardening, Pest Control, Raising Livestock, Preserving meats & produce, Quilting, Weaving, Recipes, Soap & candle making, Camping, Outdoors in the Winter, Fishing, Living with nature, Broom making ...the list goes on! Love that it has pictures/instructions as well. Makes it lot more easier to understand. Can't wait to try some of these things out! Will be using this as part of my homeschooling for my children as well. I could look through it all day.

Highly recommended.
This book not only teaches long forgotten skills but also reinforces abilities you may already have. We enjoyed this book so much that we're giving it as a gift to our grown children.

Very informative
This book has so much information! It will be very helpful for anyone trying to get back to basics. It is a good reference manual for basic living skills. I find something new every time I pick it up.

Great reference book
Reader's Digest books have long been a favorite of mine for reference books. Gave this one to my son; sort of like a Mother Earth reference book on how to built your own log dwelling to raising goats.

Great Book
I had this book long ago, and it got damaged in water so this is a replacement. I have learned so much from this book, its something my husband and I read and learn to do different things together! Would highly recommend!
