I was one of those people who never got math and gave it up along with high school years ago. When I decided to get a degree the prospect of confronting algebra in middle age -- when I didn't even know basic math -- was daunting. One of my G.E.D. instructors loaned me the second edition of this book and it prepared me for algebra so well I eventually took (and enjoyed) trig and calculus. My nephew has been struggling with algebra texts that are poorly crafted, have wrong answers to problems, are poorly written and loaded with pictures, rather than clearly stated and relevant problems. I was excited to find this text for him, and to know these texts are available for students today -- and for textbook authors who want to know how to do the job right.

Good sequence
Needed a low cost book with which to teach one on one Pre Calculus. Had several books that did not cover the subject as clearly and sequentially correct as this one. Many books, especially modern ones, stuff in ancillary material that is not germain to understandong the basics. Many of the other books I looked at did not have examples that were as clear.
