For once, someone publishes a book that has more to do with "why and when" we are prone to cheat, than the circumstances that lead us down the road to temptation.
Close Calls! was a great conversational read, but also had great practical application/conversation components to discuss with a spouse.
For those couples who are truly interested in knowing what pushes the sexual and emotional switches of their spouse, this book is timelessly appropriate for helping couples know just that. The reader and their spouse are guided through personal inventory evaluations that promt them with relevant topics regarding sexuality, dealing with stress, life change, childhood memories/trauma, and other helpful subjects. Husbands and wives are encouraged to talk about those things they know true of themselves and often kept from each other, or in many cases, are unaware that an emotional sinkhole may exist in their marriage until they have expereinced an inappropriate relationship.
Furthermore, Dr. Carder does a terriffic job of explaining the roots of some some of these issues that make us vulnerable to close calls, enabling the reader to take an honest look at the temptations they face, and perhaps make current life changes.
But more importantly, Close Calls! addresses the issues of one's past that could make them, perhaps, more at risk than others, allowing them to openly inventory their default responses to certain relationships and life situations, and confront the real motivations that lead to Close Calls in their lives.
