Cheap and bad reprint
What a shame to have done such a disservice to Dirk Bogarde's four exceptional memoires. Not only were all of the photographs left out -- and there were many in each book -- but several of the original volumes included a number of original sketches and drawings by Bogarde as well. The typesetting is atrocious as hardly a single page escapes without at least one typographical error and many have a number of them. Don't waste your money -- be patient, hunt around and find the original four books, either the original UK editions or the American editions published by Viking. I eventually found all four Viking editions for a little more than twice what I paid for the Methuen "complete biography". The latter was donated to my local library for a book sale where it will garner the dollar or two that it is actually worth. It is truly a caveat emptor case as the seller made no mention that the photos and sketches had been omitted.
