Despite so many books being available on the general subject of stress, there are few that deal specifically with its serious consequences. Furthermore, no other comprehensive book on stress breakdown -- the new and more appropriate term for the condition known as nervous breakdown -- exists. Although it happens to ordinary people who appear to cope well with the usual demands of life, only those who have experienced stress breakdown know what it is like. Stories and private joys and agonies of those who have suffered from this debilitating experience are shared. Falling Apart shows you how to avoid stress breakdown, or how to cope with life if you or someone you are close to has experienced a breakdown. This break-through book includes simple strategies for dealing with the many problems we encounter in today's stressful world and suggests ways to handle the dilemmas that confront those recovering from a breakdown.

Breakdown or nervous breakdown are generally outdated terms. These days we are all more familiar with stress related illness. The term breakdown in this book is describing the same situations - areas of major stressors altering one's life in one way or another, regardless of origin. Divorce, illness, job loss are all on equal footing here, the premise is it is impossible to know what would send any one of us over some edge, where, how or why our functioning would be impaired. If you think you have been adversely affected by life situations and no matter what you've done to correct the problem, this book may open your eyes to new ways to see what has happened, is still occurring and things you can do about it. Including some guidelines for getting professional help when self help ceases to be aiding in making necessary changes. Personally, I discovered I was diminishing my own situation which compounded the initial stress, why I found myself in the same loop over and over again. This book educated me in a variety of ways to break the circle keeping me trapped. The AHA's alone made the book worth reading.
