Dr. Bromfield gives localities for specimens found in I. of W. with white fls., and mentions a specimen having been found with remarkably distant fls. I find that the plant occurring mostly in tilled ground and dry situations has the leaves and bracts narrowed towards the base; whilst the plant occurring in damp ground, in moist pastures, and by waysides, has the leaves and bracts broadest at the base, narrowing gradually upwards; these characters are reversed in the books. The latter plant flowers later. At Bishopstoke, on July 23, I found B. verna nearly over, while B. serotina was not yet in fl. 2. B. viscosa, L. Marsh Eyebright.
