The demand for the chinese market is phenomenal, and there are businessmen from every country who want to come to China to make profits, but doing business in China is not as easy as one might think. For foreigners, participating in Chinese business involves questions such as - Where to invest? Are there any restrictions? What are the favorable policies? Are the investment zone foreign investors friendly? Will I be able to communicate with Chinese people? There are too many questions waiting to be answered. This book will introduce you with China's investment environment, work process, typical cases in the past... Though you may never need to be a "China expert", it will certainly help you to have a better feel for local Chinese contacts if you are aware of some of the business surrounding doing business there. When we first conceived of this book, we planned to target an audience of first-time entrepreneurs who were travelling to China to start their own businesses. Over the course of our careers, we have collected 4 topics that are the most commonly asked by entrepreneurs about the investment environment and working details in China, and we have tried to synthesize these questions and address them in this book. In the process of writing this book has progressed, we have identified many problems that may not have had good solutions so far, or that have changed with time and circumstances and are inconclusive. However, identifying the problem itself is the first step in solving it. In our opinion, the purpose of reading this book as an ordinary individual investor is not to learn specific investment strategies (there are more specialized books on the market that will elaborate on related topics), but rather to help broaden one's horizons and understand the Chinese situation from a higher dimension. To provide further insight into the content of this book, we have included additional information that you may find useful. Please refer to the appendices of this book, which contain the excerpts of templates for the Capital Increase Agreement, the Shareholders Agreement, and the Articles of Association. These templates are the essential and commonly used in China when a foreign company or individual is interested in to acquiring a partial interest in a company from a Chinese founder through a premium acquisition. The templates' distinctive feature is that they also include non-competition clauses for the Chinese founder. Appendix D is a comprehensive database, which includes official websites of Chinese government authorities, intellectual property, and channels for inquiries about qualifications. Appendix E and Appendix F will illustrate the cases and terms presented in this book. Please be aware that this book does not constitute legal advice. You should still consult with your advisers regarding law, tax, wealth management and other aspects.
