This book describes the present state of theory of the hopping transport of small polarons in crystals, electrons in disordered systems, and atoms in materials such as superionics and metal hydrides. It treats in detail the hopping motion of small polarons in crystals, of electrons in disordered systems, and of atoms in materials used for energy storage. Recent developments in the fields of localized electronic states, strong electron-phonon coupling, and percolation theory are also discussed. The authors describe all steps ...

The authors describe all steps of the theory in detail, so that the book may be used as an introductory textbook. But they also derive the main results in an intuitive manner so that the book will be useful to experimentalists who are not very interested in mathematical details. Theoretical results are illustrated by experimental findings.
