This One's a Winner
Enjoyed Natalie Danford's first novel very much.
Olivia, the daughter of an Italian immigrant to the United States, travels to Italy to discover why her father had a deed to a house in Urbino.
The narrative moves skilfully back and forth between the daughter's and the father's points of view, and comes to a surprising and satisfying conclusion.
Olivia's experiences in Urbino, including a sensual love affair, are told with a clarity that brings the Italian town to life for the reader.
The descriptions of meals, their preparation and enjoyment, are detailed in a way one might expect from this writer, who has already authored a couple of cookbooks.
