Seller's Description:
Hardcover. Large octavo. 192pp. Original maroon cloth with gilt title, etc. to spine, pink endpages, b&w frontispiece, color and b&w plates and illustrations, index. The identity of the master alchemist who wrote under the pseudonym of Fulcanelli is still the subject of debate, but he is commonly regarded as one of the small number of genuine alchemical practitioners of the twentieth century, and perhaps one of the even smaller number about whom it has been claimed-with some chance of credibility-to have succeeded in accomplishing the Great Work. This particular work is his study of the hermetic instruction he felt was embodied in the structure of Gothic cathedrals. Touch of bruising to head and tail of spine, hint of darkening to edges of text block, otherwise a tight, clean, unmarked near-fine copy in VG+ dust jacket (the jacket has a little rubbing at edges and folds, some chafing and a match-head sized hole to head of spine, not price clipped, protected by removable mylar cover).
