"Bob Short, jun.," (C.) says the avenues need widening, and an abominable encroachment at the bottom of Kent Lane (alias Street) removed--namely the "Half Moon Battery." Jeremiah and Ann Long write (C.) a very uice letter from the Cape of Good Hope to their friends in Kendal. They are going to be very comfortable after a while, and are not at all troubled with the Caffres. June 30th. We (G.) noticed last week a forgery on the Craven Bank, and we believe that, among others, Dougald Wright, anctioneer, is implicated in it; some bad notes having been found on him. It will be awkward for Dougald. The Church-yard is at last going to be enclosed with rails. 400/. will do it, and nearly 300/. have been collected. The Chronicle says a man named Ingham has been examined for the forgery. Lord Lonsdale has presented the Rev. Arthur Hnddleston with the Rectory of Moresby. July 7th. Dougald Wright has been proved innocent, but several persons have been committed for the bank forgery. A labourer, named Thompson, was seriously nurt on Wednesday whilst sinking a well in Highgate. The town is beginning to be nettled about the Half Moon Battery, &c.; it wants wider streets down there. We publish the following for the benefit of our own printing offices iD 1865. It is "A Printer's Widow; " perhaps the compositors can tell us if there is any fun m it: --"This daily publishing my weeds of woe, Announces to my eye as pica plain A dear romantic duodecimo, Unbound, and going into sheets...
