This microeconomics text broke new ground when introduced. The programmed approach uses prose and graphics to lead the reader to logical conclusions based upon the foundation of hypothesis developed within micro-economic theory. After all the theory is a model, an abstraction of reality, that attempts to explain human behavior when faced with scarcity.
The programmed approach was novel and tested showing significant learning improvement. Sadly few economics texts use this method. I would like to incorporate it into my teaching of microeconomics.
Basically, you read text and fill in the missing words as you built knowledge of micro-economic theory as you read the text. Amazing!
