Alex Shigo makes complex matters very easy to understand and is perhaps the greatest champion for the cause of tree care alive. He is passionate about his subject and immensely well informed. His passion for trees is infectious. On the down side it is pricey (depending on how you value knowledge) and lacks the production finesse of the bigger publishers. Shame really, because SUCH an important book should be more widely available. Dr. Shigo's pic are basic but easy to follow. The book isn't very cohesive though. Reads like a lot of well written pamphlets. A must have, if you can afford it!
