Great beginners book for learning PHP
From graduating with a computer information systems degree from a private university I've read a lot of programming books that were way to verbose and rarely gave practical examples. This is where Larry Ullman's PHP for the world wide web differs from alot of other books. The book does exactly what it intends to do, give you a introductory experience with PHP. It presents the information in short chapters, in linear fashion with a lot of real life examples. With how Larry presents the material, if there are areas you don't want to learn about or if there are things you want to learn about, once you get a brief understanding on how the language works you can skip or skip to those areas. I read this book when I first started out with PHP, and it is the one I recommend to anyone who asks me how to get started learning PHP. Also, compared to other authors, this author keeps a forum that has a big following which he does actually monitor and reply to.
