The directory should have a single, unified means of access from different applications, and - at least in Windows - the recommended means of access is through the Active Directory Services Interfaces (ADSI). Professional ADSI Programming is for anyone who wants to learn about ADSI and use it to program clients and providers, but it is also about more than that. It's about writing commercial applications that will look professional and meet the expectations of your end-users in the days of Windows 2000.
