The book also discusses the evolutionary history and significance of exon-shuffling. There has been much controversy as to the role of this evolutionary mechanism in protein evolution. This volume attempts to eliminate some of the misunderstandings that are still quite general in this field by indicating the source of some of the conceptual errors.
