If you spent more than $20 for this book, you have wasted your money. There is no information in this book that can't be found on EPA's website. Data Quality Objectives? Download it from EPA's website. EPA has created documents on this subject that are much better (more explanation and better examples) than anything shown in this book. Data review using National Functional Guidelines? Again, EPA website downloads on this topic provide much better information. The same could be said for the entire book.
Here's something else to think about: When it comes to closing a site, this function is generally performed by the state or county regulators. Which means that, if you follow this book, which is filled with EPA-type information, thinking that you've consulted the ultimate authority, then you will likely not get site closure, not to mention that you will still have many state and local regulatory requirements that will have to be met. So the book actually does its target audience of "college students and professionals alike" a disservice, because you can't actually use this to get site closure.
I also didn't like the condescending writing style used by the author. Ultimately, there are much better books on the market that do a great job of discussing environmental topics without talking to their target audience as though they were simpletons.
