Hebrews 11 gives us snapshots of many Old Testament saints who overcame difficult trials by faith in God. Most of the stories are snapshots of victory, but right in the middle of Hebrews 11:35, the author pivots to those who were tortured, mocked, imprisoned, suffered hardship, and were martyred. They were not lacking in faith, but rather triumphed over these terrible trials by their faith. The Bible gives these snapshots of faith to encourage us to trust God in whatever circumstances we find ourselves.
