This book was dedicated to "the heroic people of Belgium who died that democracy might live...." so this book was published after the armistice of November 1918 as the Belgian Army advanced into the country to replace evacuating German troops. The German occupation repressed political dissent, caused the collapse of the country's economy and committed war crimes against the Belgian civilization population along their route of advance. School stamp inside front board, otherwise appears unread. Soiling top of pages. Very good.
