When James began screaming out recurring phrases like, "Plane on fire! Little man can't get out!" the Leiningers finally admitted that they truly had to take notice. When details of planes and war tragedies no two-year-old boy could know continued-- even in stark daylight-- Bruce and Andrea Leininger began to realize that this was an incredible situation. Soul Survivor is the story of how the Leiningers pieced together what their son was communicating and eventually discovered that he was reliving the past life of World War II fighter pilot James Huston. As Bruce Leininger struggled to understand what was happening to his son, he also uncovered details of James Huston's life-- and death-- as a pilot that will fascinate military buffs everywhere. In Soul Survivor , we are taken for a gripping ride as the Leiningers' belief system is shaken to the core, and both of these families come to know a little boy who, against all odds and even in the face of true skeptics, harbors the soul of this man who died long ago.

read the book
Well written documenting parent's quest to verify past life memories of son that started when he was 2 years old. Son had nightmares about his plane being shot down by the Japanese during WWII. Son named ship he served on, names of other pilots and many other details that could be and were verified. Very good read.

Interesting
Very good book. A bit long on getting the reader to "know" the family and their traits. May have overdone that a bit! Very interesting story.

Fascinating subject. Strangely written
This is like a real suspense novel. You can't wait to find out all this little boy of 2 or 3 can actually remember about his WWII experiences. I will keep it in my library. The book was written by the mother and father of the child with the help of another writer. For anyone who reads it, however, it is really frustrating. Too much time writing about the mothers support group. Everything is dragged out. The story itself is hindered by the format and writing. The thing is you keep reading because the story is so fascinating. The actual quotes from mom and dad are very well written so I don't understand how or why the book was put together the way it was. Still worth reading. Truly amazing and fascinating. story.

Soul Survivor
It's wonderful. Unlike other accounts of children recalling past lives, this child was able to recall names and places and the ship his plane took off from. The parents weren't into metaphysical ideas but due to the child's torment with sleep and screaming and recalling dying in a fire on his plane, they were both moved to try to find solutions to this perplexing problem with their beloved child. They finally found out it was a past life he was recalling. The book is great. Written from the perspective of unaware people who come to the realization that something greatly out of the ordinary was occurring with their child and they had to think outside the conventional box to solve this problem. The book even has pictures of the child as he was in the previous life, pictures of his former colleagues, and his former family members. This is a great read. I enjoy reading past life accounts and this is the best I've read so far.
