Seller's Description:
Very Good. Catalogue for exhibition, April 11-May 7, 1978. Includes bibliographical references. Presenting work by Michael Bishop, Barbara Blondeau, Joseph D. Jachna, Kenneth Josephson, William G. Larson, Ray K. Metzker, John Wood. Limited to 1500 copies. Signed "Aaron Siskind" on first blank page. Aaron Siskind (December 4, 1903-February 8, 1991) was an American photographer whose work focuses on the details of things, presented as flat surfaces to create a new image independent of the original subject. He was closely involved with, if not a part of, the abstract expressionist movement, and was close friends with painters Mark Rothko, Franz Kline (whose own breakthrough show at the Charles Egan Gallery occurred in the same period as Siskind's one-man shows at the same gallery), and Willem De Kooning. Siskind was "one of the most important and influential artists working in photography during the 20th century". From 1971 to 1975 Siskind served as Adjunct Professor at the Rhode Island School of Design. A scare autograph.
