The line 5 o" is the semi-minor axis and the line o" s" is the semi-major axis of the ellipses that contain the curves of the face mold. Measure from o" along the semi-minor axis to 2, a distance equal to o s, the radius of the center line of the rail. On each side of 2, measure to I and to 3, a distance equal to onehalf the width of the rail. To find the points of the major axis in order to insert the pins for the inside curve, take the distance o" 7 of the major axis in the compasses, and the point I on the minor for center, and describe the dotted arc cutting the major axis in z and z, respectively.
