This is the best book/package that I have used. The vocabulary is modern and functional and it has a very detailed coverage of the script system. It has alot of writing and script-reading exercises but hardly any grammar exercises. So if you want understand the grammar you have to keep re-reading the dialogues up to the point where you have basically memorized them and can translate the English translation back into Thai. I actually prefer this method when I learn languages because in my experience learning grammar and vocabulary through context and application is much more effective than when studied apart.
