Whether it be imputable to want of merit on our part, or to want of' {pirit on the part of the public - whether it ought to be attributed more to the vigour of enemies or to the languor of friends - whether 1ts caufe be of a perfbna'l and individual nature, or mul't be looked for in the general character of' the times - are fiie???ts of fpecu lation, on which it were ufelefs to pronounce a vague Opinion, and not eal'y perhaps to eflablilh a decifive one.
