A Great Start
This is an excellent way to get into Conan. As Howard himself said, "...it's almost as if Conan were whispering in my ear, telling me his adventures...." That's not a verbatim quote, of course, since I first read it 30-plus years ago, in the intro to one the very first Conan paperbacks I've read. If you have any, repeat, any, interest in action-adventure with a good helping of sorcery thrown in, this is the series for you. The only bad thing about the tales, and indeed the Conan character: They're terminally habit-forming. So grab one or two, or as many as you can get your hands on.....sit back, and be taken to times and places that probably never were, but Howard's Conan makes you wish they had been.
