Tbe night looked very unpromising for the sport of the morrow, as a considerable fall of snow had taken place, and a sharp frost set in. Tuesday.--Met at Netherton at half-past eight, but the frost being keen we could not commence until a quarter to ten. The day was fine, but cold, and very unpleasant for the "poor feet" of pedestrians. A numerous company of spectators was present, amongst whom we noticed Lord and Lady Tankerville, Mr and Mrs Selby, of Biddlestone; Miss Liddle, Mr and the Misses Burrel, the Miseea Foster, &c. The courting was principally over Mr Stories's farm of Coatwalls, where, notwithstanding the coarseness of the weather, we had a large number of hares. In the first field we tried (a roughish pasture) we had eleven courses run out of it under the hour, and throughout the day had a good supply, and forty-six runs. Dog Puppy Stakes.--The first put into the slips were the Earl of Angus and the Gallant Graham, the former of whom showed the pace and won a moderate length of trial decisively. Justice led Rangshickles and made the first two turns, but died away and was afterwards well beaten. General M'Clellan, on the inside, led Fugleman and raced puss up: a very poor trial. Coquetdale Ranger, on the outside, led Buston, and, in a good trial, beat him well. Tom King, on the inside, led Tim Whifiler, and, in an excellent course, beat him thoroughly. Kettledrum, after a short no-go, showed the pace of Col. Digby, and beat him with not a deal to spare. Jamie Douglas was faster and superior to Bonspiel...
