A slightly better than Fair copy with former owner's underlining and notes in margins and inside cover, creased spine, worn wraps. A very rare signed copy of the author's first book, first published in 1967, which has been called a foundational work in African American studies. It remains influential; for example, Cornel West has often stated that every time he writes he is "shadow boxing with Cruse."
