One item of the real estate, being a block near the Fifth ave. entrance to the Central Park, consisting of twelve lots on Fifth ave, and 7 on 58th St. This land was bought a few years ago by the acre, and its sale by Mr. Anderson is reported at $930,000 in 1882. Mr. Anderson is now erecting an elegant res. on Orange st., New Haven. 1, Alice M., m. Rutherford, s. of Thomas Trowbridge. 11. V. Edward, d. y. 3441316. Laban Smith Beecher, b. Jan. 30,1805; learned the trade of a wood carver of Hezekiah Augur. When Jackson was Pres. he carved his figure at full length for the frigate, Constitution. Afterward, he was in a prosperous leather business with Elmer Townsend. In 1858 a Director in the Chicago Land Co.; subsequently he bought largely with Indian land warrants, and from Oshkosh, Wis., Bent lumber to the eastern markets; and at time of his dec. was thought to be the second largest timber owner in Wis. He did much to improve the country, and won the confidence of the Indians by his efforts to protect their reservations. He labored to procure a city charter for Roxbury, Mass., and was elected on its first Board of Aldermen....
