Loved the book. Love the people and their fierce independence. Have yet to make any of the recipes, but the one for Watermelon Pickles is tempting for next year's state fair. Recipes include some wild fish and game, all sorts of pork, stuffings, gravies and many plain cakes, cobblers, gingerbread, doughnuts plus many more desserts. This wonderful book also includes descriptions and pictures of old stoves and the people who still use them to "bake biscuits which never are as good when baked on any fancy new stove. A joy of a book.
