This book first came to my attention as a Princeton alumni "book of the month" reading last year. While it is a history of Princeton that continues from where the original sesquicentennial history left off, it is organized more palatably by themes and not chronological dates, as would be expected from a modern day historian like Axtell. For anyone interested in how top universities in the US evolved from gentleman's exclusive country clubs at the turn of the 20th century to the dynamic, diverse, strong academic institutions of the 21st century, I can strongly recommend this book.
