The Sound of Music was Rogers and Hammerstein's final collaboration. Despite poor reviews it has become one of the most successful musicals of all time. While there is nothing much new in this book, it is nonetheless an interesting retelling of the creation of the classic show and the phenoninally successful movie. The team that broke all the Broadway rules with Oklahoma knew that it was the audience, not the critics, that decided if a show as a hit. It's an enjoyable story about the final days of one of Broadway's greatest teams.
