For those of us who have long admired Henning Mankel, and wanted to know more about his protaganist, "Pyramid" provides an insightful look back into the early days of Kurt Wallander's career. This is a serious of mini-masterpieces--each novella is both self-contained and bleeding copious knowledge into the others. "Pyramid" raises hopes that Mankel will not abandon the dour and mysterious Wallander. An excellent read.
