This book could easily be titled DSP for Dummies since Dr. Smith has taken a traditionally difficult subject and explained it in easy to digest segments that quickly allow the would be practitioner to use DSP for filtering, correlating, detecting, compressing data or any of its other uses. Dr. Smith has a gift for providing the right amount of background and theory to support the practical DSP applications he promotes. He uses unstructured BASIC code to demonstrate the various DSP functions, which is easy to read and translate into other programming languages. As the title suggests this book is a must for the scientist and engineer and especially data analysts who manipulate and process data. This book has proven to be the resource I needed to break into DSP in a real way.
