Very Good in Good jacket. Book First Edition, 1944. Limited to 1/1617 copies. Clean and tightly bound in black cloth. This Arkham title was the first appearance of Frank Utpatel's classic "haunted house" logo on the title page. Slight smudging, small bump at spine base and several very faint stains to fore edge, still Very Good. Previous owner's bookplate on front endpaper and "Woodworth's Bookstore" stamp affixed to the inside of the back board, otherwise contents are clean. The dust jacket art was designed by the author's brother Howard Wandrei. The dj has faded from original blue to tan (except at flaps), the spine is missing 3" at the base, some overall edge wear and old tape on reverse side, Good only.

Dust jacket is covered in a protective mylar jacket.

Wandrei, founder of Arkham House with August Derleth, publishes his first book of collected stories. Square, tight and clean throughout with some bumping and light wear to the spine ends. Light toning to page edges. Small unobtrusive ownership stamp of noted Oklahoma Sci-Fi collector Hardin Ramey on the half-title page. Very attractive unclipped dust-jacket, ($3.00), by Wandrei himself, Has some chipping to spine ends and wear to tips. Hardley any of the toning so commonly found. Fresh and bright with no creases or tears. A very pretty collectable copy of an early Arkham and one of the less common titles.
