Seller's Description:
Hardcover. There is no date listed, but the copyright date is (1835). The book is encased in a vintage sewn-on leather cover. It is fairly heavy leather and is an interesting item. We have not removed the cover to inspect the book, as it is too unique to alter. But from the tips of the book spine that are visible, it appear the cover was put on when the book was new (or almost new). And we suspect the the binding is likely in very nice condition. There is an ink stamp of the bookseller I. A. Hopkins of Milwaukee (apparently in business in the 1840's and 1850's). The front flyleaf is partially detached. The last gathering extends from the binding a bit and has some edgewear. The rear flyleaf, and some tears and loss at the edges. Some pencil notes on the front pastedown and rear flyleaf. Foxing to the page edges and first & last few pages; a bit scattered throughout. The sewn-on cover has some rubbing/wear, and some staining. On the rear of the cover there is an inked name and "LaGrange Wis". LaGrange is a township and small community in Southeastern Wisconsin.; 28A; 6-3/4" x 4-1/4"; 304 pages.
