As the energy landscape transforms under mounting pressures of decarbonization, grid modernization, and climate resilience, the stability and control of power systems have come into sharper focus. This Special Issue collects works on recent advances that confront the key technical challenges posed by the increasing penetration of renewables, distributed generation, and real-time operational complexity. Under the leadership of Guest Editors Prof. Ke Xu (Nanjing Institute of Technology) and Prof. Yuan Liao (University of Kentucky), the Issue solicited contributions that push the frontier of power system control theory, stability analysis, and practical control strategies. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following: Frequency and voltage stability in hybrid and renewable-rich grids; Control coordination among multiple devices (e.g., energy storage, converter interfaces, FACTS); Advanced forecasting, system operation, and real-time control; Protection schemes and resilience under faults and disturbances; Optimization, intelligent techniques, and AI/ML methods in stabilization; Microgrid dynamics, islanding behavior, and distributed control; Integration of power system protection, stability, and control under uncertainty. This Special Issue aims to strengthen synergies between control theory and power system engineering practice, weaving a narrative that encourages new dialogues across academia, industry, and system operators.
