Having already plowed my way through "Cardcaptor Sakura" and most of "XXXholic", I picked up the first volume of Tsubasa. If you're a fan of all things CLAMP (those hard working, all female manga artists), this is the beat-all book. It's a grab bag of your favorite characters from several series shot into an alternate universe. Princess Sakura has lost her memories, shattered into a thousand pieces and cast into other worlds. Sayoran travels to the Time Witch to beg her for help, along with an Odd-Couple pair of travelers. They all must pay the Witch a price for their seperate wishes, and that is where the fun begins. Some of the jokes and references are aimed at those who have devoured other CLAMP novels (like "Chobits" and "Magic Knight Rayearth"), but on the whole, it's a great manga for those new to the ladies' work. Shojo cuties and Art Nouveau drawing abound is worth the price alone. And if you really like Art Nouveau and the mischevious Time Witch, check out CLAMP's "XXXholic".
