Though the book does detail the prejudice that exists in a mixed country the author paints Israel with a very weak brush. Leaving out historical information regarding the Jews from the Middle East Shabi's forgets to mention that the Arabs were on the side Hitler during WWII and many fled. Not much sympathy toward Israel in this book and I had to keep reminding myself that she actually had parents from Iraq who lived in London where she grow up. Part of her analysis of Israel may be based on the biased view of the British today.
I would recommend reading Martin Gilbert's book "In Ishmael 's House". For true background.

Ethnic profiles
This book details the ethnic profiles of the Jews who immigrated to Israel from Arab countries and who are often mistaken for enemies. It is a story well worth reading by every person who lives in a racially mixed society.
