C J Richardson I live in a small village in North Yorkshire with my husband. This is the second time around for both of us and we have six grown-up children and fifteen grandchildren between us. I started writing when I retired about eight years ago. Firstly joining a beginner's class and then forming a writing group with some fellow students. We meet regularly to share our work and also to critique and help each other. I have studied A215 and A363 with the Open University and gained a distinction for my year three A363 course in Creative Writing. I am currently studying with Open College of Arts and hope to gain a BA(Hons) in creative writing over the next couple of years. The idea for North Sea Shells came from my final piece for the Open University where I had to write the opening four thousand words of a novel. This was in 2014 and the whole country was getting prepared to commemorate the one hundredth anniversary of the start of World War 1. I was fascinated to hear that German warships actually attacked the north east coast of England in December 1914 and began to research the events of that terrible day. Once I had completed those first four thousand words, I knew I had to finish the story. Although fiction, it is loosely based around the events of that December morning and the consequences that followed for my fictional family. This is my first novel and I hoped you enjoyed it. If you wish to find out more about my work and my plans for the future, please visit my Website or Facebook page below. I expect it to be a long journey and would love your company whilst climbing the writing hill... See less
