Martin Henley has extensive experience as both a special and general educator. Early in his career, he taught in urban schools and special education programs. Martin Henley has extensive experience as both a special and general educator. Early in his career, he taught in urban schools and special education programs. After he earned a PhD in special education at Syracuse University, he directed Head Start in Syracuse. He followed that position by serving as principal of an inclusive school for students with autism. A year later he accepted a tenure track position in the Westfield State University Education Department. He served as coordinator of special education teacher preparation programs for several years. Dr. Henley completed his career at Westfield State University as chair of the department and retired as professor emeritus in 2009. See less
