Rabbi Michael Lerner was mentored by Abraham Joshua Heschel at the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York. He received a Ph.D. in philosophy (ethics and political philosophy) from the University of California, Berkeley in 1972 and a Ph.D. in social/clinical psychology from the Wright Institute in Berkeley in 1977.
