Neil Ribner, PhD, is a clinical psychologist and director of the doctoral program in clinical psychology (PsyD) at the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) at Alliant International University (AIU) in San Diego. He is also professor of psychology at CSPP-AIU, where he teaches courses in psychotherapy and family therapy. Dr. Ribner's main professional interests are in child and family psychology, particularly in such areas as parenting, divorce, marital relationships, child custody, and stepfamilies. He supervises doctoral research in these areas and has published and presented numerous professional papers on family violence and cultural factors in psychological treatment. In addition to his academic endeavors, Dr. Ribner is actively involved in clinical practice, counseling children, adolescents, couples, and families. A large part of his practice involves performing custody evaluations for the Family Court in San Diego, and he trains interns and other psychologists in doing such evaluations. Dr. Ribner also consults with several San Diego agencies, including Social Advocates for Youth and the U.S. Navy Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Residency Program. He is the author of "First Session With Teenagers" and the editor of the "Handbook of Juvenile Forensic Psychology". See less
